DIFFERENTIATION

Exodus Groningen provides aftercare to former people in detention and people in the final phase of their sentence. It is a mixed-gender facility for adults.

The facility uses the “Your Power” methodology, which focuses on residents’ strengths in five areas: work, housing, finances, relationships and meaning. Residents manage their own schedules, but must participate in organized activities and work/education at least 26 hours a week. The program includes finding suitable work, shared living responsibilities, financial assistance, relationship building and identifying leisure activities, which promotes comprehensive personal development and social reintegration.

COMMUNITY-INTEGRATION

Residents are expected to do work or attend activities outside the facility, which promotes ongoing interaction with the community. Furthermore, Exodus makes various efforts to promote interaction with the neighborhood and society by motivating participants to contribute to their living environment. An example of this is that participants engage in maintaining gardens of vulnerable local residents or engage in other types of activities, such as an environmental day and so on.
